Tomorrow, December 8, 2009, has been announced as the final Patch Tuesday of the year by Microsoft. A summary of the patches is here and here. The patch addresses six security bulletins, three of which are rated Critical.
The patch does not fix the "Black Screen of Death" problem that has been sporadically reported, as Microsoft has not identified the problem.
Adobe will also be issuing a patch for "critical security issues" in Flash tomorrow. See Security Advisory for Adobe Flash Player.
Apple users should not feel secure either, as a big patch for OS X (related to Java) was issued last Friday. See more on Brian Krebs's blog here.
There is a lot of fraud out there. Here are a couple of examples: A retailer vulnerability from The Last Watch Dog - a vulnerability on a major retailer's site and from Security Fix, businesses that were cleaned out - La. firm sues Capital One after losing thousands in online bank fraud and DC businessman loses thousands after clicking on wrong e-mail.
Make sure you are getting automatic security updates from your software vendors.
